As the representative work of the early vernacular in modern times,Dream of the Red Chamber contains numerous resources of words,which is endless and reproducible. Many of today’s catchwords can be found in the book,while the meanings remain almost the same. What’s more,some idioms and dialect words are still vivid and vibrant,which is worth of exploring and studying. The analysis of vocabulary resources in Dream of the Red Chamber is of great significance in lexicology,sociolinguistics,history of literature,history of literary critiques,and therefore,serves as an important role in contributing to close reading and deeper understanding of the author and characters for readers today.
