元宇宙是所有可能世界吗?——从思想实验与时间真实性出发的知识论研究

摘要:

人工智能、区块链、大数据、现实增强、虚拟现实、脑机接口、分布式系统、物联网、云计算等先进技术在元宇宙中的大量应用,使得元宇宙是什么、不是什么,对技术的概念、边界与价值施加了反作用。这也将间接地改变工程与社会发展在未来的前进方向。思想实验以其能对所有可能世界加以想象与推理,而成为哲学研究的重要方法。元宇宙如果是所有可能世界,则将彻底替代思想实验,从而动摇哲学研究的方法论基础。研究表明,由于应用范围与设计目的不同,从知识论的程度主义视角看,它们不完全重合。实际上,元宇宙对世界的模拟与生成,在内容上受到来自现实世界物理律则的挤压,尤其体现在沉浸式时间感受上。从物理基础与技术细节出发,重新审视元宇宙的能力边界,人们对其过度期待存在巨大的风险。

Abstract:

Artificial intelligence, block chain, big date, augmented reality, virtual reality, brain-computer interface, distributed system, internet of things, cloud computing and other advanced techniques are widely used in metaverse. Thus it matters what metaverse could be and what metaverse cannot be, which makes a feedback upon concepts, boundaries and values of techniques. It would change orientation of engineering and social development to the future as well. The method of thought experiment serves imagination and reasoning of all the possible worlds that it plays an extremely important roll in philosophy research. If metaverse was all the possible worlds, it would take the place of thought experiments which undermining philosophical study from its methodological foundation. The study shows that their imperfect coincidence gives the credit to the divergences of the applied range as well as to that of the functional target from the perspective of degree of knowledge. Actually, the content in worlds simulated or created by metaverse yields to physical laws from the real world, especially on immersive feeling of time. From physical basis and technical particulars, this paper reviews the limits of capabilities of metaverse, and indicates the huge risk taken by human beings in case of over expectation.
